“Shear” pleasure to cool off in the warm sunshine

At the end of May it was all hands on deck to make sure the alpacas got their annual haircuts to keep them cool and trim for the summer. This year we had the added challenge of maintaining social distancing throughout the task; the shearers did a fantastic job and we are so impressed and grateful to them.

Lavender pouch give-away!

As we look towards week four of our lockdown, we are probably starting to find a new normal and establish some new rhythms to our days where we can. Even so, the ongoing disruption and uncertainty can take its toll and little surprises and contact with friends and family whether by telephone, online or traditional post can provide a very welcome lift in our day.

With a little help from our friends…

Time flies when you’re having fun and there’s been a lot of fun at Ash Farm in the weeks since our last newsletter.
Yet more alpacas have joined our lovely herd with our newest arrivals making 30! We are looking forward to incorporating their lovely fleeces into next year’s yarns.

Our latest yarns have been put to work on the knitting machines, inspiring new garment designs and cosy accessories. We had a wonderful time introducing the new sweaters to alpaca enthusiasts from all over Wales at the inaugural Welsh Alpaca Show in Carmarthen.
