Join us for a relaxing and enriching day as we celebrate World Tai Chi Day in a peaceful rural setting.
Under the guidance of experienced local instructor Steve Whiddett, you’ll explore a series of Tai Chi exercises designed to support both physical and mental wellbeing. Through slow, flowing movements, breath awareness and partner work, the practice encourages balance, coordination, strength and calm.
Tai Chi originates from traditional Chinese martial arts and is practised through slow, flowing movements that develop balance, coordination and internal awareness. Alongside its martial roots, Tai Chi is also deeply informed by principles found within traditional Chinese medicine and is widely valued today for its calming and restorative effects on both body and mind.
To close the day, we’ll finish with a 45-minute guided meditation led by Jo Rees. Drawing on gentle breathwork, meditative storytelling and the surrounding environment, this session weaves together guided and quiet meditation. Suitable whether you are new to meditation or more experienced, it offers a deeply nourishing way to slow the mind and absorb the benefits of the day. The shared experience of meditating together in a calm, natural setting makes for a powerful and restorative close.
On arrival, guests will be welcomed with a warming matcha or herbal tea, setting a grounded tone for the day. Throughout the workshop you’ll be nourished with homemade food from the Ash Farm Café, including a delicious homemade lunch and a date, nut butter and cacao bark served as the afternoon sweet treat.

The warm welcome from Sian put everyone at ease and her sweet treats and fabulous soups, along with warm drinks certainly put a smile on everyone’s face (and probably an inch on our waistlines!)
